Zimbabwe’s Removal from the FATF Grey List

On the 4th of March 2022, Zimbabwe was removed from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list. When the FATF places a jurisdiction under increased monitoring, it means the country has committed to resolve swiftly the identified strategic deficiencies within agreed timeframes and is subject to increased monitoring. Jurisdictions under increased monitoring actively working with the FATF to address strategic deficiencies in their regimes to counter money laundering, terrorist financing, and proliferation financing. The ESAAMLG 7th enhanced follow up report on Zimbabwe indicated that the country would remain in enhanced follow-up and will continue to inform the ESAAMLG of the progress made in improving and implementing its AML/CFT measures.
